In 2004, we designed the home. In 2024, we added a shed and finalized the outdoor living spaces that complete the backyard’s master plan. The 90 SF shed provides essential storage for tools and sports equipment while establishing a backdrop for a fire pit area. Clad in variegated cedar siding, it anchors the southeast corner of the yard. Sliding barn doors conceal interior and exterior storage, while a projecting steel angle supports a rolling track that extends beyond the shed to screen outdoor equipment.

Adjacent to the dining room, a covered porch creates a cozy outdoor room, visually connected to the interior. Its edge is defined by a narrow steel planter that integrates an outdoor gas fireplace. Steel stairs descend from the porch to the backyard, linking the outdoor areas.

“Functionality meets surprising design ideas in one uber modern outdoor fireplace.”
